First Call for contributions:
Does the Bulawayo Municipality continue to strive and is it still the major success that it has always known to be? Is Highlanders Football Club's administrative excellence still the envy of other teams in the country? Is the newly revived of ZAPU on the right path to being the mighty party of the people once again? Certainly when you hear of what is actually happening to these institutions you would think otherwise.
In a bid to address the situation, Inkundla Community Interest Company (Inkundla) is organising a conference to address leadership in Matabeleland.
The goal of the inaugural Leadership Indaba is to deliver leadership strategies that the people of Matabeleland can use to improve the quality of life in the community. It is an outstanding opportunity for presentation and discussion of issues in the main areas of: education, arts & culture, business, sport, religion, health, politics and family.
The First Leadership Indaba planning committee invites educators, traditional practitioners, health personnel, researchers, politicians, policy makers and many others from Matabeleland to make submissions for oral speeches, interactive workshops and presentations. Because leadership involves the ability to inspire others, this call is not only for people in leadership positions, but it is also for those who aspire to be in leadership and also for those who are in need of inspiration.
Background
The First Leadership Indaba theme is “Legendary Leadership Lessons”
This Indaba will seek to address issues that affect the main areas (education, arts & culture, business, sport, religion, health, politics and family) by focusing on the leadership in the institutions in Matabeleland and in the diaspora that sustain these areas.
The conference committee welcomes contributions on the wide range of topics using a range of approaches including critical methods, case studies, action research, proposals and work-in-progress. The discussions will include, but will not be confined to; the decision-making, governance processes, policy, and the response to economic and social environmental, and personal change.
Conference Information
The one day First Leadership Indaba is scheduled for Saturday, 10th April 2010 in Sheffield from 10 am to 6 pm, (The Source at Meadowhall, 300 Meadowhall Way, Sheffield, S9 1EA). The official languages of the conference are Ndebele and English**.
For inquiries about making submissions and on the conference, contact events@inkundla.net.
Delegate registration is £10.00 and covers refreshments and lunch. For inquiries about registrations contact events@inkundla.net.
More information will be made available in due course.
(**We apologise to other groups who may want to be involved using other languages such as Kalanga, Sotho, Nambya, Shona etc. The decision to use Ndebele and English is not based on discrimination, but on the premise that this will make communication easier.)
